Practicas
A practica is a relaxed, sociable practice session at which you can practise your tango, mix with other students and dance to a wide range of authentic tango music.

Attending practicas increases your confidence on the dance floor. It also gives you a chance to dance with your regular partner and/or other students, as you choose.

Of course, ‘practice’ in itself is not a cure-all. It’s important that you don’t spend time practising the same mistakes, with the same partners, or you will only end up consolidating them and forming bad habits. This is why our practicas are always supervised. You have us on hand if you need advice or help. We can make sure that your practice is valuable and rewarding.

All our weekly classes include some practice time, and there are frequent additional, extended practicas too. All practicas are open to all current ATSE students of all levels, and you do not need to book in advance - just turn up.
A summary is given below.

Tango club, Thursday evenings

Thursday night is ATSE's Tango Club night: our main session for all experienced improvers, intermediates and advanced (click here). The evening always includes a short practica, and most weeks there is an extended practica of one and half hours, from 8.30pm to 10pm.

Whilst the class is at intermediate level, for experienced improvers and above only, the extended practica is of course open to ALL current ATSE students, of all levels, including beginners. If you don't attend the class, you are still welcome to come to the practica, from 8.30pm to 10pm. The price for practica only is £10 per person.

Note that some weeks, the extended practica is replaced by a special class, Tango Plus. So do please check (you will receive a weekly email update) before turning up for the practica, to make sure it's running that week.

The Sunday Session

Currently suspended.

The Sunday Session incorporates a 90-minute class for experienced improvers, intermediates and advanced (Thursday class attendees), followed by a 90-minute practica open to ALL students of all levels. The practica runs from 7.30pm to 9pm.

This weekend practica takes place approx. every three weeks. Class participants pay £20 for the whole three-hour session (90 mins tuition plus 90 mins practica). For practica only, the cost is £10 per person. Tea, homemade scones and cake included - so do come and join us! For more info, click here.

Open practicas

We are not currently running open, 'drop-in' practicas for general dancing. All our sessions are exclusively for ATSE students. If you would like to be emailed about future open practicas or social events, please contact us with your email address, and we will notify you as soon as anything is announced. Thank you.
