Private tango tuition for small groups
We regularly offer private tango tuition to small groups. Some of these are composed of regular ATSE students who wish to explore more tango than is covered in our regular group classes or work on a particular specialism eg. tango nuevo, tango milonguero or vals.

Other small groups are 'guest' groups, usually absolute beginners from outside ATSE, who want to do something new with their friends, or who are celebrating a special event together. We also teach small groups of friends who dance other social dances (ballroom, salsa or folk dancing, for example) and fancy trying something new.

We will pitch the content and approach according to the people present and their aims for the class.

It is considerably cheaper to study privately in a small group, rather than as an individual or couple, so this is an economical way to get personal attention and tuition.

Forming your 'small group'

A 'small group' is a minimum of six people, and a maximum of twelve. For larger groups, eg. if you would like us to come and teach as guest teachers at your dance class or special event, please click here.

You do need to ensure there are equal numbers of leaders and followers within your group, so that no-one has to 'stand out' and wait for a partner. Do note that you will get more out of your private group lesson if all those attending are at a similar level (or willing to work at a similar level).

We currently have a space available for one more small group to meet every few weeks, on a Saturday, for a two-hour session. All you need to do is form your group: equal numbers of leaders and followers at approximately the same level. If you don't know enough people to form a group, please just let us know that you are interested. We keep a waiting list of names. As soon as we see that we have enough people to form a good group, we will contact you all and arrange an initial session.

How much?

The price for a small group tango lesson is usually just £25 per person per hour.
(This may vary slightly, depending on the size and nature of the group, and special venue costs.)

We will book space in Canterbury, and the hall cost is usually covered by the £25 hourly rate. Should there be any additional hall costs, or should they increase, we'll let you know how much this would be before you book.
