Beginner & Recent Beginner workshops
'Study tango regularly with us in our small-group (private) tango workshops. This format offers lots of individual attention and intensive tuition (at half the cost of a private lesson), as well as a chance to dance with a small number of other partners, in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. Sounds good? Please read on...
Join us in January 2025!
Make 2025 the year you learn (or return to) tango!
We are looking to establish a series of small-group workshops for tango beginners and recent beginners. Initially, we'll offer three workshops in a series, 90 mins per workshop. The small group will contain a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 10 (usually 6-8), with equal numbers of leaders and followers.
These workshops will be ideal for absolute beginners, for those looking to 'restart' tango after a break, and those who are learning privately with us and are in the early stages of their tango journey.
If you are interested in joining us, please contact us and we'll be sure to let you know the first available dates! As soon as we have a balanced group (equal numbers of leaders & followers) of 6-8, we will get in touch with you to arrange the first sessions!

What kind of things can I expect to learn in these workshops?
The workshops will be suitable for absolute beginners, recent beginners and nervous improvers/returners (see class levels). Our classes are focused, structured and progressive, friendly and non-intimidating. Even if you've never danced tango before, you will be able to dance a simple, improvised (fully led or followed) tango within just a few hours of classes.
Across the series of workshops, you can expect to cover all the fundamental principles of authentic, contemporary Argentine tango. We always incorporate movements that are sometimes perceived as more 'advanced' but that are perfectly acheivable by beginners, provided they are built on a basis of good technique: you will be able to lead/follow simple ganchos, arrastres and barridas, for example, by the end of the workshop series.
We will structure these workshops flexibily, as best suits the attendees’ experiences, needs and wishes, so that you can progress surely and confidently. In the small-group setting, we can help you to develop at your own pace, giving personalised help and feedback to each dancer. You'll be surprised by what you can achieve in a few hours!

Small-group workshops: general key features
The format of the workshop varies according to the attendees. However, there are some common features:
We usually define a 'small group' as a minimum of six people, and a maximum of twelve. The average number is 6-8 people, so that each attendee gets plenty of individual attention. All small groups are made up of equal numbers of leaders and followers, so no-one need wait for a partner.
We have not increased our small-group prices for five years, despite rising venue costs and other costs. The price for a small-group workshop/lesson is £30 per person per hour. This is half the cost of a private lesson for an individual, in a hall/studio. It's an economical way to get personal attention and tuition and meet other dancers.
Each workshop is typically two hours long (sometimes 90 mins for beginners), and they are usually organised into themed series, so that you book in advance for several dates.
