We are the only school in the South East dedicated to teaching authentic Argentine tango. In fact, there are very few schools like this in the country. When you learn tango with us, you can be confident that you're learning real, up-to-date tango. We want to help every student to develop into the best tango dancer he or she wishes to become.
Over the years, building on our experience of dancing tango here and in Buenos Aires, we have developed a teaching method that will help you to dance authentic tango as soon as possible. We believe that the best teachers never copy a teaching system from another teacher, a book or a syllabus, but create their own pedagogy. We watch, learn from and speak to a huge range of teachers coming from varied approaches, before working out for ourselves, in detail, how a movement is created, constructed, led and followed. We assume that you expect teaching that always attempts to respond to your questions and your dancing, is clear, precise and sympathetic to the dance and the dancer.
We believe our teaching method encourages you to develop good technique and a strong basis for your own innovation within tango. We emphasise elegance, style and precision from the earliest lessons, because a simple step danced beautifully is as valuable as a complex one, and is attainable by everyone who learns the tango and really wants to reflect its authentic qualities.
Beyond great technique, though, tango is fundamentally improvisational. For this reason we do not teach using the ‘salida’ or ‘basic eight’. The approach we use encourages you from the very first lessons to build your own dance from the various movements we offer you – first in an elementary way, and later on in a more sophisticated way. One of our greatest pleasures is seeing the range of styles danced by those who come to our classes.
