We have studied with a huge number of teachers since we began dancing tango. For the sake of space, we will not list them all here – though we are happy to talk about them with you.

We travel to Argentina annually to study further and update our tango, and to reflect upon our teaching as well as our dancing.

Within traditional salon and milonguero style, our teachers have included Thierry Le Cocq and Veronique Bouscasse, Facundo and Kely Pasados, Rudolfo and Maria Cieri, Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Monica and Omar Ocampos, Carlos Gavito, and extended study with Carlos and Maria Rivarola.

Within contemporary salon tango we have studied with Leandro Palou and Andrea Misse, Stefano Fava and Alexandra Woods, Gabriel Misse and Alejandra Martinian, Pablo Nievas and Valeria Zunino, and Cesar Velasquez and Carolina Prado Gonzalez.

Within ‘nuevo’ style, we have enjoyed challenging workshops with the innovative Richard Manuel and Pauline Reibell, and one of the ‘founders’ of nuevo: Pablo Veron. Most notably, we have attended intensive, extended courses with the two other founders of nuevo (you can see all three in the film The Tango Lesson). First, we have taken several long courses with Fabian Salas, who teaches with his wonderful dance partner Carolina del Rivero. Second, we have completed Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne’s six-day advanced general seminar in Buenos Aires, and another four-day seminar during one of their rare visits to England, in December 2007. We have also followed an intensive long course with the world-famous Chicho Frumboli, and with Luciana Valle, one of the most renowned teachers of tango nuevo.

Thierry Le Cocq and Veronique Bouscasse have particularly influenced and inspired us with their impressive ability to dance all styles of tango: milonguero, salon, nuevo, as well as milonga and vals. They introduced us to ‘milonguero style’ and although they are now dancing with different partners, their tango continues to inspire.

We have also spent some dedicated time studying musicality, especially with Fabian Salas, Carlos Rivarola, and renowned tango musician Joaquin Amenabar, who has his own Orquestra Tipica and whose extraordinary knowlege of and enthusiasm for the music of tango really helped us to understand and respond to the music better.
